and I am finally ignoring all the noise and my very deep-seated imposter syndrome. I have been wanting to write a Blog for so long, it’s almost embarrassing to admit.
So here I am, finally doing it. Finally starting this writing thing I have been dreaming about, half intimidated and a half proud. To put myself out there, it is a bit scary, but certainly nothing comes from nothing. And nothing good can’t come from being too terrified to even start.
But where to really start, and what do I want to use this blog for? I wish to share some behind the scenes of my photography adventures, things I do, things I have learned, and in between we talk story. Living in Hawai’i, there is always something to share with you. Be it about how glorious yesterday’s sunset was, or the amazing people I bumped into. I have not really made out a set frame work, but it will be all things photography and the beauty of experiencing this life.
I am not a writer per se, English isn’t even my first language and yet it makes the idea of starting a blog even more appealing. I wish to use it a bit as a challenge as well, a challenge to be more intentional and mindful with creating photography and life related topics. This will be a journey to grow and learn, and I hope you’ll follow along.
First things first, let me introduce myself,
I am Janine, a woman and artist, born and raised in Germany, and I think I got my love for travel and photography from my father. I kinda fell into it through my enjoyment of looking at photos. To this day I absolutely love looking at photos, the way photo paper feels in your hand, how the image can change just a bit when you tilt a photo a little one way or the other. It just brings me joy and through that first expose of seeing photos on paper, or projected on a white clothes hanging up against a wall, I fell for photography without even really knowing it, until I knew it.
As I became a young adult, I left home and started traveling. Naturally I started taking photos to visually preserve my memories, but not until I became a mother and booked my very first photo shooting did it really click, how much I do love this art. Our photographer became my mentor and a good friend and it wasn’t long thereafter until I started to capture peoples most precious memories.
Of course I didn’t pick an easy route, but dove right in with birth photography, and that experience might be what shaped my style of photography.Today, professionally, I shoot life documentary and branding photography, but for my personal enjoyment I skip around different branches of photography. I love street style, sea scapes, coffee- and food photography and will very likely share various subjects and interests with you through this blog. It’s going to be so much fun.
Did I mention I am a sucker for early morning light? We shall explore that a bit more soon. Stay tuned and thank you for being here.
